Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson born to British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby & Chris Watson in Paris, France. When she was five, she moved to Oxfordshire to attend The Dragon School. Emma's dream was to become an actor. At the age of six, she joined the Oxford Stagecoach Theatre Arts branch and took lessons on singing, acting, and dance. By the time she turned 10, Emma had taken part in many Stagecoach productions and plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) The film adaptation of J.K. Rowlings bestselling novel was first cast for the first time at the beginning of 1999. Emma was identified by casting agents through Emma's Oxford theatre teacher. David Heyman, the producer of Harry Potter Harry Potter's Sorcerer's Stone and Ron Weasley told Emma after eight auditions that she had been selected for the characters. She was cast alongside Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. The debut of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's first cinematic screen appearance. It set records on the opening weekend and numbers, and was the highest-grossing film of 2001. Reviewers have been highly lauding the film, as well as the performances by the three main young actors. The Daily Telegraph, a widely read British publication, has praised Emma for her performance. Emma received the Young Artist Award as the leading young actress in the feature Film. The actress was awarded five times for her role in the movie.
